Goblin Ha’ Hotel in East Lothian hits the market for £800k

In this episode we speak to brothers Alex and Adrien Grosjean, young entrepreneurs who have recently acquired The Residence Inn by Marriott Manchester Piccadilly. We discussed the reasons why Manchester’s visitor market is booming, and their decision to invest in this area, why they see extended-stay accommodation as a major opportunity in what is one of the UK's fastest-growing cities, how they plan to enhance their portfolio of hotels, and their advice for the next generation of hospitality disruptors.

Goblin Ha’ Hotel, a “versatile” hospitality business located in Gifford, East Lothian, has been brought to market for offers exceeding £800k.

Located in a prominent roadside position on Main Street, the hotel comprises a bar, restaurant and a function room, as well as an “attractive” beer garden for outdoor drinking and dining.

The hotel, which is named after the ‘Goblin Hall’ hidden beneath the nearly 800-year-old Yester Castle close by, offers seven en-suite letting bedrooms, and a six-bedroom living accommodation that has historically been used by the owners.

According to Christie and Co, who has been instructed to market the property, there is scope for further development and extension of the letting rooms.

The village of Gifford dates back to the 17th Century, and is located approximately eight kilometres south of Haddington, around a 45-minute drive to Edinburgh

Simon Watson, hospitality business agent at Christie and Co, said: “This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a historic business in the beautiful East Lothian village of Gifford near Haddington.

“It offers huge potential to develop the letting rooms, as well as develop part of the property to create a residential house. The business will suit a variety of operators or groups.”
