The Grand Hotel Birmingham will be launching Downstairs At The Grand on Friday 16 May, which will serve as the city centre’s “only late-night live music jazz bar”.
The speakeasy concept, which will be taking over Isaac’s, the hotel’s restaurant, will be running from 10pm until 2am on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Downstairs At The Grand will feature musical residencies from well-known musicians every week, and will stage a varied programme of entertainment, including jazz nights, boogie-woogie, cabaret in the style of ‘Crazy Coqs’, and West End stars performing musical theatre showcases.
The speakeasy’s debut night will open with entertainment from Joe Spinoza and Friends. Spinoza is a cohort of the Birmingham Conservatoire and a classically trained pianist and singer specialising in jazz.
Other nights will include entertainment from Tom Seals, Dino Baptiste, Chris ‘Beebe’ Aldridge, Dana Gillespie, and Lisa-Marie Holmes.
At the same time, the speakeasy will serve a range of “classic and innovative” cocktails such as Old Fashioned, Paris Rouge and Negroni, as well as a selection of fine wines and fizz.
The late-night food menu will also include charcuterie boards, artisan cheese boards, small plates and sourdough pizzas, plus sweet options.
