Thompson Hotels, which own a portfolio of boutique properties, has announced the appointment of Andrew Coney as general manager of Belgraves in London.
Coney joins Belgraves having opened and managed the InterContinental London Westminster, which opened in 2012. He has 25 years of experience working in the UK hospitality industry, and counts Le Meridien, and De Vere Hotels on his CV.
Earlier in his career Coney was deputy general manager of Mayfair’s Westbury Hotel, before going on to hold general manager positions at in a number of hotels including Slaley Hall in Northumberland, London’s Cavendish and Waldorf hotels.
Coney also opened the Cedar Court Grand Hotel and Spa, York’s first five star property.
Coney said: “I’m very excited to be joining the fantastic team at Belgraves, the first transatlantic outpost for the innovative Thompson Hotels brand. This is such a prestigious property which encapsulates New York attitude in the heart of London’s Belgravia and I can’t think of a better place to begin the next chapter of my career.”
