Hotel concept of the month: Aviator – a hotel by TAG

In this episode we speak to Anthony Hunt, partner and co-head of Corporate Real Estate at law firm Howard Kennedy. Opened in 2008 Aviator was created by the TAG Group as a hotel for “elite travellers” moving between London and the world’s leading destinations. Located in Farnborough next to the private airport, the hotel takes inspiration from its location and is aviation-themed with a propeller-shaped exterior.

Across four floors, the hotel boasts 169 bedrooms in total, split into three categories: Aviator Rooms, Aviator Studios and Sky Suites (56sqm) located on the fourth floor. The bedroom interiors are designed to be “contemporary yet comfortable” featuring walnut panelling, leather accented furniture and bathrooms with black glass walls, granite vanity tops and chrome finishing.

Its Sky Suites also boast walk-in wardrobes, generous bath tubs, Missoni blankets and space to lounge. Guests can also discreetly access the hotel’s fitness studio from their rooms using a guest only stairwell at the north end of the building.Hotel concept of the month: Aviator – a hotel by TAG

The ground floor lobby and atrium of the hotel present the Brasserie and One Eleven. The Brasserie provides guests with an “intimate dining experience” with a variety of fresh and classical dishes accompanied by carefully selected boutique wines from producers around the world. The more informal One Eleven restaurant also provides a diverse range of bistro-style food, and uses high quality and familiar British ingredients.

Located on the first floor is the hotel’s Sky Bar, a cocktail bar that overlooks the private airstrip.

The seven meeting rooms are located down one wing of the hotel, with a separate entrance and reception available for larger events. Room capacities range from four to 150 delegates. Used exclusively for tailored events and celebrations, the Sky Lounge also overlooks the airport and combines with the atrium to create a venue that “promises to leave a lasting impression”.
