Malmaison and Hotel du Vin have appointed Malissa Charlton as cluster sales manager for their Newcastle operations.
Charlton is now responsible for driving commercial performance across both sites.
The appointment follows recent refurbishments at the Malmaison Quayside location. Charlton, who started the role in February, is tasked with managing client relationships and identifying new revenue opportunities for the two boutique hotels.
Charlton has 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry. She previously worked as head of sales and marketing at Hotel Indigo in Newcastle.
Her career began in the United States, where she worked as a corporate trainer at the Gaylord Texan resort.
Since moving to the UK, she has held positions at Newcastle United Football Club and the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Arts.
Charlton said: “This is such an exciting role, I’m already loving every moment of it. There’s something very special about both of these amazing hotels and it’s a bit of a dream come true for me to be here, working with both of them.
“I love it here in the UK and I think the job is very different, it’s far more creative here, whereas in America it’s more sales operations. My role is to invigorate the work already done, I’m taking my passion and translating it through these brands.”
