The Formby Hall Golf Resort in Liverpool has been given the go-ahead for a £20m expansion and upgrade.
The plans will see the entire estate “reinvigorated” and upgraded. As well as a 43-bedroom extension, 15 two-bedroom luxury lodges, a brand-new golf clubhouse and a standalone spa, the plans also include a restaurant extension and an enhanced leisure club.
Works to the woodland lodges, spa and bedroom extension at the far end of the property will start in early 2020, specifically building outside of the key trading seasons and at a distance from the main conference and event spaces and existing bedrooms so as to avoid guest disruption.
The development plans also include a new two-storey golf clubhouse for the resort’s members and visitors.
Formby Hall director, Christopher King, said: “Formby Hall’s credentials as a first-rate golf destination speaks for itself, with a top rated18-hole championship golf course complimented by the PGA Academy and the Harold Swash Putting Solutions for Excellence, but its reputation as a go-to spa resort will go from strength to strength.
“It already has masses of appeal, however, this £20m investment will take the resort to a whole new level of quality and experience.”
