Accor announces opening of new Ibis hotel in Swindon

In this episode we speak to brothers Alex and Adrien Grosjean, young entrepreneurs who have recently acquired The Residence Inn by Marriott Manchester Piccadilly. We discussed the reasons why Manchester’s visitor market is booming, and their decision to invest in this area, why they see extended-stay accommodation as a major opportunity in what is one of the UK's fastest-growing cities, how they plan to enhance their portfolio of hotels, and their advice for the next generation of hospitality disruptors.

Hospitality group Accor has announced the opening of a new Ibis budget hotel in Swindon, the company’s first hotel in partnership with First Inn Ventures.

The new build will open in December and includes 73 en-suite bedrooms designed to offer “an urban, contemporary design.”

The hotel is the result of a new partnership between Accor and First Inn Ventures.

Minhaz Manji, director of First Inn Venture, said: “We are delighted to be opening our first hotel in partnership with Accor.

“Ibis budget brings with it international recognition and brand standards which will attract guests visiting Swindon for business and leisure. We are proud to be working together with the development, franchise, D&T and brand teams at Accor to build, design and open a new hotel in the town centre.”

Philip Lassman, VP development, Accor Northern Europe added: “There is much development planned in Swindon to regenerate and improve the town centre for residents, businesses and visitors alike.

“As such, it’s an ideal place for a new ibis budget hotel which offers convenience and comfort in a central location at an affordable price. This is the first hotel we are opening in partnership with First Inn Ventures and we hope it will be followed by many more joint developments.”
