OYO appoints Rishabh Gupta as its new head of UK business

Hotel group OYO has appointed Rishabh Gupta as its new head of UK business.

He has over a decade of experience and has held positions at Airbnb, Deloitte and WPP.

Gupta will be succeeding Jeremy Sanders, who will be leaving the group to spend more time with his family and three young children.

Sanders joined OYO last year to lead its UK operations for the groups first market outside Asia. During his time as head of UK business, Sanders hired 500 people across seven offices, purchased 200 UK hotels with 5000 rooms onto the groups platform across 50 cities and towns in the UK.

OYO said: “We are sad to say goodbye to Jeremy after an exciting year of UK expansion.

“As OYO enters into an exciting new phase in 2020, it’s important that we continue to grow and scale while doubling down on our goal of offering improved customer experience and building great partnerships with asset owners.”

The group has committed over £40m investment in the UK, which will help OYO’s expansion alongside ensuring high standards of customer experience.

Under Rishabh’s leadership, OYO emerged as Indonesia’s largest hotel chain with over 2000 hotels and around 50,000 rooms under management across 100 cities.  

OYO added: “We are focused on building a new kind of tech-driven hospitality business. We want people around the world to experience high quality, safe and hassle-free travel.”
