A former hotel manager has been sentenced for committing theft and fraud, according to Cumbria Police.
Stewart McIntosh, from Longtown, was guilty of stealing £100,000 from the family-run Graham Arms in Carlisle, where he worked as manager for the hotel.
Between June 2010 and June 2018, he falsified daily cash management sheets to take up to £100,588 in cash from the site.
McIntosh stole a further £6,650 between January 2018 and May 2018 by falsifying banking records and failing to bank money on 12 occasions.
On Friday (17 January), he was sentenced to two years and eight months at Carlisle Crown Court. He pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing at Carlisle Magistrates on 17 December 2019.
Detective constable Andrew Metcalf said: “This is a positive result for the owners of the premises, Mr McIntosh showed no remorse for his actions during the investigation.
“This result today provides the owners an opportunity to move forward with their lives, both personally and professionally. I am happy that Mr McIntosh has been held to account for his actions.”
