Laird has been with the business for 30 years and the brand said she is the “driving force” behind the Valor brand, developing its existing and future talent and improving employee engagement across the company’s 17 UK hotels.
Laird’s promotion will see her remit expand into the US, taking on responsibility for the teams in Valor’s state-side portfolio, as well as continuing her work in the UK. Laird will be responsible for all HR activity and for bringing operating standards, HR IT systems and parity across all hotels.
Ewan McGlashan, global co-founder and CEO at Valor, said: “Huge congratulations to Moira. We knew that with the right regional HR leaders in place, Moira could bring to bear her significant and varied experience to huge effect in the USA as well as the UK.
“Besides the values and employee engagement work Moira has undertaken in the UK, including many incredible talent development and wellness initiatives, she has also spent a significant amount of time with myself, the global partners and HR manager in South Africa, developing the Valor proposition and the subsequent training and development materials to accompany that.”
He added: “I have now known Moira personally for more than six years and her professionalism, work ethic, drive and desire to truly see Valor become one of the most highly respected and envied management companies in the world has been apparent. This promotion is not a day too soon.”
