JD Wetherspoon has seen plans to convert a Wolverhampton pub into a museum and hotel given the green light.
Wolverhampton Council has approved the plans which will see the The Moon Under Water in Lichfield Street undergo a £7m revamp. The work will see around 50 rooms added to the property.
Plans had been previously approved in 2018, however it was reworked to include the fourth floor of the property in order to add an additional 22 rooms.
In the design and access statement, Wetherspoon PLC said: “Having already purchased the freehold and gaining permission to enlarged public house and a new hotel demonstrates the applicant’s commitment to this building and the City of Wolverhampton.
“This further proposed investment by the applicant will secure the viability of the business and the long term future of the building.”
