French hotel group Accor has acquired around a 35% stake in boutique hotel brand Mama Shelter, with plans to open a London location under this umbrella.\u00a0\r\n\r\nThe partnership will give Mama Shelter access to Accor\u2019s development and distribution network, which it hopes will allow it to accelerate its openings and offer customers new destinations.\r\n\r\nThe brand expects to open 20 new Mama Shelters in the next five years. Shelter will open in Los Angeles in early 2015, and the company is working on opening an address in Lille, London, Zurich, Mexico City, Seoul, Amsterdam, Barcelona, New York and a second location in Paris.\r\n\r\nS\u00e9bastien Bazin, chairman and CEO of Accor, said: "This agreement is the outcome of a beautiful encounter and a shared desire to learn from our respective talents. Their presence will allow Mama to benefit from a major international platform and to share our philosophy with an even greater tribe."\r\n\r\nThe Mama Shelter brand currently has a portfolio of five hotels \u2013 located in Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Bordeaux and Istanbul \u2013 with a total of 633 bedrooms.
