Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow receives £4.6m makeover

The Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow has undergone a £4.6m makeover just four years after re-opening its doors from a previous refurbishment.

The multi-million-pound investment, which follows a £20m makeover in 2010, has included opening a previously unused fifth floor and the unveiling of 46 new bedrooms and suites, increasing the hotel’s offering to 230 bedrooms.

Interior design team Goddard Littlefair was appointed to create a ‘home-from-home’ environment, including marble bathrooms, rainfall showers, wall mirrors and ceramic roll-top baths.

The expansion has also created 25 new part-time and full-time positions at the hotel.

General manager Laurie Nicol said: “Our hotel prides itself on its heritage with the city and our new expansion ensures we pay tribute to that. We wanted to create a look that captures the excitement, style and sophistication of the city. The new bedrooms achieve just that whilst complementing our stunning premises at the same time.”

Grand Central Hotel was named Scottish Hotel of the Year in the Scottish Hotel Awards 2013.
