The Institute of Hospitality (IOH), the UK based international professional body for the industry, has announced Kellie Rixon as its new chair.
The announcement was made at IOH’s annual general meeting, presented online on 10 September.
Reporting record results for 2019, outgoing chair, Robin Sheppard, noted the ongoing evolution of the IOH in a “fast-changing world”. Sheppard reported strong growth, a return to a surplus outcome and a significant increase in both members and commercial partners.
In 2019 the IOH welcomed 1,276 new full members and introduced a category of membership to support those taking hospitality apprenticeships in alliance with HIT Training which attracted 5,600 members.
Additionally, it closed the year with 4,200 students from 63 schools of Hospitality Management located in a total of 24 countries, reflecting the International nature of the Institute and of our Industry.
In her first address to members, Rixon noted what a challenging and critical time this is for the industry, and the role that the IOH has in supporting members as they plan for the future.
She also paid tribute to Sheppard, to the staff and to the commitment of her fellow trustees.
