The Hotel Collection’s Palace Hotel to be sold for £7m

In this episode we speak to Anthony Hunt, partner and co-head of Corporate Real Estate at law firm Howard Kennedy. We discuss why 2026 may be seen as a pivotal year for boutique hotels, unpack the rise of global nomadism and how this is shaping demand and trends across hospitality, and how a strong team and clear, consistent messaging and offerings are key to securing investment.

The Palace Hotel in Buxton Derbyshire, part of The Hotel Collection chain, is set to be offloaded by the group for a minimum price of £7m.

The 122-bedroom property is set to be sold by The Hotel Collection, known as Puma Hotels until rebranding five months ago, following a refinancing of the brand earlier this year.

The hotel is part of a grade II listed building and features a banqueting room for 300 people, and a health and leisure club which offers a swimming pool, gym and a range of treatment rooms.

Jeremy Jones, director of Hotels at Christie + Co, which is handling the sale of the property, said: “The hotel is highly profitable, with scope for further development, subject to planning. We are finding that there is an increasingly strong demand for quality provincial UK hotels and I expect the interest for The Palace Hotel to be high.”
