The US private equity firm that owns the Hotel du Vin and Malmaison brands is set to take over Village Urban Resorts as part of a £600m expansion in the UK.

KSL Capital Partners, which announced the acquisition of Wimbledon’s Cannizaro House for an undisclosed sum this week, is understood to have exchanged contracts to buy the Village chain from the De Vere Group for more than £480m, the Times reported.

The investment firm is also believed to be in final negotiations to take over Great Scotland Yard in London, the former headquarters of the Metropolitan Police, to be turned into a five star hotel under the Malmaison brand, costing a rumoured £100m.

It is also believed that KSL is close to expanding the Hotel Du Vin chain with new properties in Stratford-upon-Avon and central London.
