Michael Hirst OBE has announced he has completed his consultancy role with CBRE’s Hotels team on 2 October, departing after 21 years with the company.
Hirst first joined Insignia Hotel Partner, the forerunner to CBRE Hotels, in December 1999, having previously been chairman and CEO of Hilton International.
It was reportedly a “unique opportunity” to utilise his hotel experience and industry contacts to grow Insignia’s and later CBRE’s hotel and leisure client base.
Hirst remains chairman of the Government’s Events Industry Board, which is responsible for growing the UK’s business events sector.
He is also on the boards of the European hostel company Safestay and CP Holdings.
According to CBRE Hotels, he will continue to provide independent advice to companies investing and operating in the international hotel industry.
Hirst said: “It’s been a fascinating journey to have been with CBRE over the past 21 years and help its hotel business develop to become the world leading hotel expert in providing unrivalled advice.
“I intend to remain very much in touch with the industry and continue to give advice where it is needed”.
