A Dumfriesshire property, the Moffat House Hotel, has been sold to a private buyer for a guide price of £700,000.
Situated near Edinburgh, and close to the M47 in Moffat, the Georgian manor house contains 21 guestrooms and a number of public areas, as well as a two-bedroom cottage.
Robert Smithson, senior surveyor at Colliers International, said the sale “provides [the buyer] with an excellent opportunity to restore the hotel to its former glory and take advantage of the current surge in ‘staycations’.”
The sale for the well-known property is part of a wider pickup in recent market activity, according to the agent.
The last month has seen a 200 percent increase in professional viewings for Collier International, with buyer enquiries increasing both domestically and internationally.
Smithson added: “The completion of yet another deal proves the uplift in activity we are seeing since the prospect of the re-opening of the hotels sector was announced. Buyers and sellers started to make a move and come out of their shells in readiness for re-opening during July 2020.”
