Macdonald Hotels & Resorts wins inaugural Greener Path Award
Macdonald Hotels & Resorts has been awarded the very first Greener Path Award for Landfill Diversion as a result of its ‘dedication’ to sustainability.
In association with the British Council for Sustainable Development, the Greener Path Awards celebrate the worth businesses across the UK have done to reduce the impact they have on the environment.
The hotel group was recognised by environmental waste management company, ACM Environmental, for its ‘effort and achievement’ in minimising waste, boosting recycling, and maintaining average landfill diversion of more than 96% in the last year.
Through the implementation of its ‘Room 15’ environmental programme, the company expanded its renewable energy sources, improved its energy efficiency, and shared sustainable ambitions with suppliers.
Enzo Bertolone, purchasing director at Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, said: “We have over 40 hotels across the UK and we understand that it’s of paramount importance not only to provide guests with the highest quality facilities and best service, but also to be environmentally efficient.
“To win with the first Greener Path Award for Landfill Diversion is an incredible achievement and, at Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, we will continue to do our part in shaping an environmentally sustainable future.”
