London hotels reported a strong performance in September, according to preliminary data from hotel research firm STR Global.
Despite a marginal 0.1% fall in occupancy to 89.2%, London hoteliers reported a 6.5% increase in average daily rate to £163.94 and a 6.5% increase in revenue per available room (RevPAR) to £146.29.
Increase in supply in the capital was up 1.7% but this was supplemented 1.6% increase in demand.
Performance in London was driven mainly by the Rugby World Cup, which began on September 18 and runs through to the end of October.
Year-on-year RevPAR growth moved into double figures on September 16 and remained in double figures for the duration of the month.
