Holiday Inn Express has confirmed the roll-out of its ‘Next Generation’ hotel concept with the announcement of the first four such properties in the UK.
The technology and design-led ‘Next Generation’ concept was announced by InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) – parent company of the Holiday Inn brand – in March last year in an effort to appeal to the ‘smart traveller’.
The company has announced that the Holiday Inn Express London – Park Royal, Holiday Inn Express Grimsby, Holiday Inn Express London – Ealing and the Holiday Inn Express Portsmouth – North, will be the first four properties to feature the changes.
As part of the rebrand, Holiday Inn Express said that it would be redesigning the bedrooms, hotel lobbies and dining areas of its European properties.
The rebrand will include the addition of smart TVs enabling guests to stream their own media from a personal device or log on to apps, larger beds with noise-reducing headboards, a flexible work and rest corner and the newly-designed Express Café & Bar.
The company said it plans for at least one in every four of the brand’s European properties to feature the concept within the next three years.
Mike Greenup, vice president of brand management at Holiday Inn, Europe, said: “A hotel room is no longer just a place to sleep and our approach to technology and service starts with understanding our guests and their needs throughout their booking experience and stay.
“This investment in guest insight and our hotels is enabling us to stay ahead of the game.”
