In this episode we speak to brothers Alex and Adrien Grosjean, young entrepreneurs who have recently acquired The Residence Inn by Marriott Manchester Piccadilly. Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro has submitted a planning application to open a new luxury boutique hotel in London’s Covent Garden.

The star has teamed up with property firm Capco and BD Hotels to open The Wellington Hotel, an 83-bedroom property that will follow on from his successful The Greenwich Hotel in New York.

The plans would see De Niro, Ira Drukier and Richard Born – the team behind The Greenwich Hotel – open their first hotel outside of the US.

The hotel, which would span six adjacent buildings including three grade II-listed properties, will feature luxury spa facilities, two restaurants, a cafe and a members clubs. All of these will be built around a central courtyard.

De Niro said: “London is one of the most exciting and cosmopolitan cities in the world. It makes perfect sense to develop a hotel that represents all of that in the heart of this city in Covent Garden.

“The Wellington Hotel would honour the heritage of the area, while bringing the best of what we’ve done in New York to London.”

If the plans are approved by Westminster City Council, it is expected that work would begin on the development in 2017 with the hotel opening in 2019.
