Georgian House hotel in Pimlico, London, has been awarded five-star guest accommodation status by VisitEngland.
The hotel, which recently announced the opening of a new £250,000 breakfast and events space, is now believed to be just one of two five-star guest houses in the capital.
Alongside this, the property has also been awarded VisitEngland’s Breakfast Award for the third year running in recognition of its locally sourced and freshly made food offering.
The hotel recently completed a £600,000 refurbishment programme which included a brand new breakfast, drinks and private meeting and event space – the Pimlico Pantry and Cubitt Room – and the unveiling of its last eight individually designed boutique bedrooms.
Serena von der Heyde, owner of the hotel, said: “Since taking over the running of the Georgian House more than 30 years ago, when it was a humble 28-bedroom two-star B&B, our long term goal has always been to gain five-star status.
“In order to achieve this, I knew we needed to improve the quality, design and overall experience of the hotel without losing the impact of the building’s 1850s heritage.”
She added the hotel, which is also home to the infamous Wizard Chambers, has worked “carefully to integrate contemporary design into the historic idiosyncrasies” of the grade II-listed property’s Victorian architecture.
