Northern Powerhouse Developments acquires Llandudno’s Queens hotel

Property development firm Northern Powerhouse Developments (NPD) has acquired the Queens hotel in Llandudno, Wales, off a guide price off £3m.

Located on the promenade between the Great Orme and Cymru Conference Centre & Theatre, the property consists of 83 letting rooms; two ballrooms; two restaurants; a public bar; two passenger lifts; as well as a car park and patio area.

The property was purchased from Devoy Hotels – owned by Betty and Jock Devoy – and was managed on a day-to-day basis by Linda Bailey and Diane Rawstron, who thanks the hotel’s staff for their “ dedication and hard work”.

Gavin Woodhouse, chairman of NPD, which plans to refurbish the hotel, said: “We are delighted to have secured ownership of this iconic hotel and are looking forward to continuing the success the Devoy family have enjoyed for nearly 40 years.

“The Queens enjoys an enviable position in the heart of this famous seaside town and together with our hotel management group Giant Hospitality, we plan to invest even further in the hotel to ensure it attracts the next generation of holidaymakers.”

NPD, which reopened the Llandudno Bay Hotel last year following a £6 million refurbishment project, have also secured ownership of two other hotels in north Wales with Caer Rhun Hall and the Belmont Hotel.

The Queens Hotel was marketed on a discreet basis by Fleurets.
