Boringdon Hall, the 16th Century country manor hotel in Plympton, has become the first hotel in Plymouth to be awarded five-star status.
The hotel – owned by the Nettleton Group – recently underwent a complete refurbishment of its 40 bedrooms and suites, as well as its great hall and Gallery restaurant. The hotel also launched its Gaia spa concept in September and introduced a valet and concierge service.
Laura Cameron, operations director, said: “I am thrilled for all of our team who have worked so hard towards this fantastic accolade. We are fortunate to have some very passionate hospitality enthusiasts on our team and it has been a pleasure to work with them towards this goal.”
Nettleton, which acquired the property off a £2.5m asking price in 2011, also owns the Fistral Beach hotel and the Esplanade hotel, both in Newquay, Cornwall.
Krzysztof Prokop, general manager, added: “It has been a big challenge and a huge investment and we are delighted that all the hard work has been recognised with five stars.”
