Wetherspoon to open 14-bedroom hotel at Aylesbury pub

In this episode we speak to brothers Alex and Adrien Grosjean, young entrepreneurs who have recently acquired The Residence Inn by Marriott Manchester Piccadilly. We discussed the reasons why Manchester’s visitor market is booming, and their decision to invest in this area, why they see extended-stay accommodation as a major opportunity in what is one of the UK's fastest-growing cities, how they plan to enhance their portfolio of hotels, and their advice for the next generation of hospitality disruptors.

JD Wetherspoon is to open a 14-bedroom hotel at its pub in Aylesbury’s Market Square later this month.

The company will spend £1.1m on the development, which will see The Bell Hotel housed in the existing undeveloped areas of the first and second floor of the Grade II-listed building. In addition, the pub will also be refurbished.

Each of the 14 bedrooms will feature an en-suite bathroom, flat-screen television with Freeview TV, unlimited Wi-Fi, tea and coffee making facilities, as well as digital air-conditioning and temperature control.

Zoe Harrison, hotel and pub manager, said: “We are confident that the hotel will be a great addition to the pub. We believe it will also benefit the town itself and hopefully it will act as a catalyst for further investment into Aylesbury.”

The project, which will create an additional 10 jobs, is expected to be complete by 24 January.
