The Dolbadarn Hotel, in Llanberis, has been sold for the first time in 40 years after its owner, Aneuryn Jones, has decided to retire.
It revealed the 22-bedroom hotel was built originally as a coaching inn during 1802 and noted as the oldest building in the village. It has since been extended to include a bar, restaurant and function room which has become “popular” amongst local residents.
The hotel has been purchased by Grant Kangley, an experienced operator who plans to “breathe new life” into the building with a refurbishment.
Jones said: “The hotel holds a special place for us, having owned it for over 40 years. We wish the new owner all the best with his plans for the hotel and would like to thank Tom O’Malley and Christie and Co for the continued professionalism and help throughout the whole sales process.”
Grant added: “Following a complete refurbishment, we look forward to getting guests back through the door. We’d like to give a special thanks to Tom O’Malley from Christie and Co who worked very close with myself and the vendor to help navigate this deal through a difficult period.”
Tom O’Malley, associate director in Christie and Co’s hospitality team, who handled the sale, said: “We’re delighted to have completed a successful sale on behalf of Mr Jones and we can’t wait to see what Grant does with the hotel, when he reopens to guests for the new season in March 2022.”
