Yotel to open new Manchester site

In this episode we speak to Nico Tréguer, co-founder of Roberts and Treguer and The Culpeper Family. Nico spoke about founding the group alongside his longtime friend Gareth, having had a vision for bringing more nature spaces to cities, the planned extension of The Buxton in Spitalfields, and how the site’s storytelling engages guests and the local community, how the Culpeper Family’s core sustainability ethos helped it secure its B-Corp status and why hospitality has a responsibility to educate and innovate when it comes to sustainability.

Yotel has announced it is set to open a new site in the centre of Manchester this month, with its latest hotel opening announced for Deansgate.

Rebranding the Qbic hotel on the corner of Deansgate and John Dalton Street, the new site will feature 261 cabins, each described as being “full to the brim with personality and texture”.

Every cabin features Naturalmat mattresses, large TVs, rain-showers and free WiFi, and ranges in size from 15 –26 sqm.

The hotel also includes energy efficient LED lighting which automatically turns off when not needed, solar panels to generate electricity and eco-friendly showers that reduce water usage.

Meanwhile, the ground floor houses Motley, a restaurant and bar with an outdoor terrace that serves food from lunch till late. The menu reportedly offers “uncomplicated and good for the soul dishes that are low-mileage, ingredient-led, homely and seasonal”. The bar offers draft beers from local breweries, as well as a choice of spritzers, wines and cocktails.

The space also offers a karaoke pod and private dining options. Additional facilities also include four creative meeting spaces.

In addition, the site features TRIB3, a global boutique fitness studio that will be accessible to the public, with daily complimentary and special offers available for hotel guests.

Commenting on the opening, Yotel CEO Hubert Viriot said: “We’re delighted that Manchester is the location of our newest hotel. Home to world- famous football clubs, Europe’s fastest-growing tech hub and a vibrant economic powerhouse, the city has always been high on our agenda.

“Manchester resonates perfectly with Generation YO and is a great addition to our other UK hotels in London, Edinburgh and Glasgow.”

The newly rebranded Yotel Manchester Deansgate follows an acquisition by Tristan Capital Partners and Hamilton Hotel Partners, who will also manage the business.

Frank Croston, partner at Hamilton Hotel Partners said: “Hamilton Hotel Partners is delighted to have partnered with Tristan Capital Partners in the acquisition of the hotel and to be operating Yotel’s latest addition to its UK portfolio going forward.

“Yotel Manchester Deansgate enjoys an excellent location in a market recovering strongly; our team at the hotel are thrilled to see this hotel take the next step with a well-known global brand.”

The opening of the site marks the fourth UK city centre hotel for Yotel following openings in Edinburgh, Glasgow and London. The group now has 18 hotels worldwide including San Francisco, New York, Amsterdam, Istanbul and Singapore
