Blaithwaite Estate has announced it is expanding its accommodation and food offering by adding two new woodland lodges, a hexicabin, a farm shop and cafe to its Cumbria site this spring.
The new woodland lodges and hexicabin will provide secluded hideaways on the estate while the cafe and farm shop, opening in May, will stock and serve a range of produce from neighbouring farms and suppliers.
The two new woodland lodges, Oakwood Lodge and Beechwood Lodge, will both accommodate up to four people, and each lodge will have a contemporary open-plan living space and kitchen with lots of natural light, modern appliances and a dining area.
A “luxurious” ensuite master bedroom with a walk-in wardrobe will be accompanied by a bathroom with a rainfall showerhead. A second bedroom will have twin single beds and will benefit from natural light through a large roof window. Neutral tones throughout each lodge will be complemented with earthy accents including dark wood panelling, indoor plants and mustard textiles. Both lodges will be opening in April.
The hexicabin, named Cedar Cottage, is built from cedar combined with wood from the estate’s own woodlands. The bespoke designed, British built cabin will have a pitched, shingle roof and a small patio area.
With the capacity to sleep two people, the inside will be bright and spacious with a high ceiling and modern country-style interiors complete with a warming log burner. The self-contained cabin will also have a plush double bed, free-standing bath, “comfy” seating, a shower room and a modern kitchen. It will open in late May. Both the lodges and cabin will have their own hot tub and secluded garden area.
As part of the latest expansion, a cafe and farm shop are also set to open in the Spring. The farm shop will support local and independent suppliers from lesser-known areas of the county. It will stock a range of items including butchery, eggs, fresh milk and seasonal vegetables from surrounding farms, charcuterie from Stonehouse Smokery and cheese from Torpenhow Cheese alongside home-baked treats. It will also feature a selection of local beers and spirits.
The cafe will use the local ingredients available to buy in the farm shop to create fresh and seasonal dishes. The “relaxed” menu includes homemade breakfast bites, freshly baked pastries, afternoon bakes, and light lunches with seasonal soups and sandwiches.
