Trenython Manor, located in Cornwall, has been named ‘Considerate Hotel of the Year’ at the Considerate Hoteliers Hotel of the Year 2014 national awards

The awards, run by the Considerate Hoteliers Association, saw Considerate Hoteliers, suppliers and judges gather at the Langham Hotel to celebrate the best in environmental, sustainable, and socially responsible performance within the UK and international hotel industry.

The crown comes as a second award in a row for the 23-room country house, who last year won the award for the most considerate marketing initiative.

Nick Waddington, resort manager at Trenython Manor said: “After winning our first ‘Considerate’ award last year, we have tried even harder and have been ever more creative in our push for sustainability.

“With such a select list of nominees, I am naturally thrilled and delighted with our achievement today.”

The shortlist featured a mix of small independent hotels and some of the country’s best known hotels, including the Hyatt Regency London and Raymond Blanc’s Le Manoir Aux Quat Saisons.

First time guest of honour Zac Goldsmith received the ‘Good Egg’ award, a title given to those who have inspired and encouraged others to embrace certain principles of life relating to environmental, sustainable and socially responsible performance.

John Firrell, co-founder and out-going chief executive officer at Considerate Hoteliers, said: “It was an honour to have such an illustrious figure as Zac Goldsmith amongst our guests this year.

“We are delighted to have awarded him the ‘Good Egg’ as he represents everything we believe to be ‘considerate’ in a person, and does so in the public eye, therefore acting as a beacon for others to hopefully follow.”

‘Considerate Champion of the Year’ was awarded to One Aldwych’s and Sustainability Manager Gary Lohan, a previous winner of the Good Egg award.

Xenia Hohenlohe, director of Marketing at Considerate Hoteliers, said: “Each year entries get more sophisticated, the standards on sustainability rises and creativity plays a huge role for hotels to find their own ‘considerate’ strategy.”
