The Inn Collection Group has revealed that North Tyneside landmark, The Park Hotel, will become The Tynemouth Castle Inn after the completion of a multi-million-pound refurbishment. The property will reopen to the public in 2023.
It is reported that the group acquired the art-deco property in April 2021 and is working on the refurbishment with Gateshead-based STP Construction and GSS Architecture as lead designer.
The redevelopment is said to include an “extensive” remodelling of the current bar and dining areas along with the site’s existing rooms, while a two-storey extension will be built in place of a previously underused function and events area to create additional bedrooms.
A further single-storey construction will also add a fish and chip takeaway and ice cream parlour, while new external seating areas and terraces will be added to maximise the venue’s sea views of the coastline.
Zoe Cooper, marketing manager for The Inn Collection Group, said: “The Tynemouth Castle Inn is going to be an exciting place for visitors from both Tyneside and further afield and we’re very excited to confirm the new identity.
“The new look gives the site its own style whilst embracing its position as part of the wider group and we hope people are going to embrace it once we reopen.”
