A new 50-bedroom townhouse in the heart of Richmond has officially opened.
The new property, named The Selwyn, has been restored with eclectic design details. The wisteria-draped Victorian façade of The Selwyn gives way to a lobby with elevated and ornate ceilings.
The hotel features a choice of well-appointed bedrooms which offer guests views over the neighbourhood or the city.
The Paisley Room, The Selwyn’s restaurant, is a gathering spot for breakfast or an aperitif for guests and local residents of Richmond.
An Art Deco design, a mix of banquettes and tables and an airy ambiance featuring a large bay window and lofty ceilings.
The hotel is rooted in Richmond’s heritage – to which the Selwyn family have made a notable contribution – and whose name has a long and distinguished history in Richmond extending back to the 16th Century. Selwyn means “Sel (castle)” and “Wyn (friend),” which is reflected in the graceful ambiance, warm welcome and personalised service awaiting guests at The Selwyn.
Savraj Dhillon, co-founder at The Selwyn, said: “We’ve spent the last four years re-imagining our beautiful Victorian townhouse hotel to create The Selwyn.
“Just as the Selwyn family made a notable contribution to Richmond for generations, it’s our hope that our warm hospitality complemented by our active role in the community, embeds The Selwyn as Richmond’s neighbourhood townhouse hotel for generations to come. We look forward to welcoming guests from near and far.”
Kew Green Hotels, the international hotel management company, headquartered in Richmond, has been appointed as the hotel management partner for The Selwyn.
