IDC names oracle a Leader in inaugural MarketScape Worldwide Hospitality Property Management Systems Vendor Assessment

In this episode we speak to Nico Tréguer, co-founder of Roberts and Treguer and The Culpeper Family. Nico spoke about founding the group alongside his longtime friend Gareth, having had a vision for bringing more nature spaces to cities, the planned extension of The Buxton in Spitalfields, and how the site’s storytelling engages guests and the local community, how the Culpeper Family’s core sustainability ethos helped it secure its B-Corp status and why hospitality has a responsibility to educate and innovate when it comes to sustainability.

We are excited to announce that the inaugural IDC MarketScape Worldwide Hospitality Property Management Systems (PMS) 2022 Vendor Assessment1 recognised Oracle Hospitality’s OPERA Cloud PMS as a Leader!

The results of the IDC report have a deep meaning for myself and the rest of the Oracle Hospitality team, as it shows that  the deep passion and hard work we have put in for our customers and our products is paying off. Driven by grit and the vision to create technology that helps our customers change as rapidly as their guest expectations, we launched OPERA Cloud before the pandemic. Thanks to the teams tremendous efforts, we have seen well over 3,000 hotels, from large and complex to small and/or limited in functionality , across over 200 countries and territories around the world switch over to Oracle Hospitality OPERA Cloud. Most have made that switch over the past year, and we anticipate the pace will only pick up from here.

Previously, hoteliers had to use siloed-systems that were not well connected and could slow down operations. The IDC report noted that OPERA Cloud, a cloud native and modular hospitality platform, provides a simple and intuitive user experience that “supports all the various and vital areas of hotel operations, sales and marketing, distribution, and financials – with a single view of the guest.”

Upon publication of the assessment, we received some great feedback and endorsements from our customers, including Christian Palomino, vice president of Global IT for Melia Hotels International, who said, “OPERA Cloud PMS has enabled us to streamline operations by managing all our hotel operations from one easy-to-use platform. It has given us the access to our data to make real-time decisions for our business, and combined with the Oracle Hospitality Integration Platform, it has enhanced our ability to innovate by integrating the technologies that fit the needs of our guests and staff.”

The Results: Setting the bar

To come up with results of the assessment, IDC evaluated the current capabilities and strategies of property management system technology vendors, as well as their ability to meet customer needs and how well their future strategy aligns with what customers will need in the next three to five years.

Alex Alt, senior vice president and general manager at Oracle Hospitality, could not have said it better in our press release. “Being recognised as a Leader in the IDC MarketScape Hospitality PMS report and positioned above all other vendors on our dimension capabilities and strategy, reaffirms our investment in and continued dedication to the global hospitality market. The PMS has always played a key role as the heart of a hotels’ operations and has only grown in importance as guests return to travel with different expectations. Oracle Hospitality is committed to providing technology that helps hoteliers adapt to the changing needs of the industry and deliver exceptional guest and staff experiences.”

We on the Oracle Hospitality team are proud to see IDC recognise that the OPERA Cloud’s integration capabilities and global network of technology partners are a strength of the platform. According to IDC, “Oracle’s API-first strategy allows customisation and extensions of products to allow customers — even those with multi-PMS strategies — to tailor workflows, rapidly innovate, and differentiate themselves in the marketplace.”

In total, the Oracle Hospitality Integration Program (OHIP) have onboarded more than 550 technology partners in just the past two years, and it’s a delight to see their integrations go live at a rapid pace, and without much fuss, effort, or unnecessary paperwork.

Looking forward

Our teams were thrilled to see IDC take note of how OPERA Cloud is being used by hotels of all sizes, including single-location hotels as well as multi-property enterprises, and recognise that Oracle’s property management system strategy puts the company in a “strong position” for the next phase of connected hospitality systems. In 2023 we are excited to demonstrate our new above property modules with Opera Cloud Central and the power of the total suite of solutions in partnership with some of our customers. So, stay tuned for more news.

The IDC report – showing Oracle’s leadership position both in Strategies and Capabilities – is a testament of our customer’s trust in what we do (thank you!) and it’s so meaningful for the people that pour their minds, hearts, and souls into OPERA Cloud and all the services around it. It’s a big privilege to work with this team every single day.
