Norwich’s St Giles House Hotel brought to market for £2.9m

In this episode we speak to Daniel Kyriakides, a partner at law firm Reed Smith. We discuss why private members’ clubs are experiencing a resurgence and what that means for the future of the hotel sector. From heritage buildings being reimagined as lifestyle destinations to hotels borrowing the experiential playbook of members’ clubs, we discuss how the lines between the two are becoming increasingly blurred, and why global growth is on the horizon for the private members club model.

A four-star boutique hotel and wedding venue in the centre of Norwich, St Giles House Hotel, has been brought to market for offers of £2.9m for the freehold.

Dating back to the mid-18th-Century, St Giles House is one of the oldest hotels in Norwich. The Grade II-listed property has also retained its original features.

The hotel offers 24 en-suite bedrooms, a bar, restaurant, and extensive wedding and event spaces for up to 150 guests, together with a spa.

The property is located within Norwich’s historic quarter and offers “one of the best” trading locations for visitors to explore the historic university city.

Simon Jackaman, director of hotels in East Anglia, said: “This is a very attractive underlying piece of real estate, and it is our hope to find a new owner and hopefully new investment through an open marketing process.

“The hotel is operated by staff under management and offers a buyer an excellent opportunity to acquire a good trading business in one of the best locations in East Anglia.”

He added: “In view of the attractive location and potential business upside opportunities presented, I believe that the hotel is likely to generate a wide variety of prospective purchasers and/or investors, both from within the industry as well as those looking for lifestyle investments.”
