Luxury Family Hotels has reopened The Ickworth in Suffolk following a full renovation led by StudioJill.

Located in the Suffolk countryside within a Grade I listed Italianate house, the refurbishment includes guest rooms, public areas, wellness facilities and restaurants, with a family-focused approach.

The renovations include updated guestrooms, ranging from classic rooms to multi-bedroom suites, as well as private residences. Communal areas have also been improved including the reception area, library, drawing room and conservatory, designed to hold guests for meetings and events.

The estate’s spa has also seen an upgrade, with the Elemis spa designed to offer a retreat experience for guests. The space includes four treatment rooms, relaxation areas, an indoor swimming pool and steam room. The hotel’s fitness facility has also reopened as a conversion from former stables.

Dining options blend the hotel’s Italianate heritage with British classics, offering seasonal menus and classics such as Sunday Roast and Afternoon Tea. Dedicated menus for children and its “Waggy Tails” menu for pets are also available.

The reopening especially caters to families, having partnered with brands Bugaboo, the British pushchair brand, and Scandiborn, the Scandinavian-inspired children’s brand, providing access to kids’ clubs, teenage spaces and entertainment areas including a cinema. The brands have provided a selection of highchairs, pushchairs and cots for guests as well as premium toys.

StudioJill is a UK-based interior design studio founded and led by Jill Higgins, specialising in large-scale refurbishments of heritage and country house hotels. The reopening marks the fifth and final full StudioJill refurbishment within the Luxury Family Hotels collection,

Jill Higgins, StudioJill founder, said: “Central to the design concept is a strong sense of place. Our approach celebrates the grand Italianate architecture mixed with a relaxed contemporary feel, and a nod to the vibrant eccentricity of the house’s history. By mixing vintage and contemporary pieces and layering colour, pattern and texture, the old and new are unified to create interiors which feel both grand and welcoming.”
