Aynsome Manor Hotel, a historic Lake District property dating back to circa 1735, has been sold off at a guide price of £1.15m.
Owner Chris Varley has sold the business in order to retire after the business has been in his family’s ownership for the last 40 years.
The property has maintained its historic features and today has 10 en-suite bedrooms and two two-bedroom cottages on the site.
There are also two lounges and a bar which is available to guests alongside well maintained gardens and lawns.
Varley said: “After 42 years of ownership in our family Aynsome Manor was more than a business, it was where we as a family made friendships and created memories and the views over the Cartmel Valley never failed to lift the spirits. It’s with some sadness that we’ve decided to move on, but we’re confident that the business we’ve curated will continue to evolve and provide much enjoyment for its guests.”
Neil Thomson, associate director in the Hotels team at Colliers, which managed the sale, added: “We’re proud to have facilitated the sale of Aynsome Manor Hotel, an iconic establishment in the heart of Cartmel. We are confident the legacy of excellence at the hotel will continue and the business will welcome many more guests in the future.
“The sale of Aynsome Manor Hotel concludes another very successful year in Cumbria and the Lake District for Colliers, marking the 58th leisure business sold in the region by our team since the beginning of 2021.”
