Linwater Caravan Park has undergone extensive upgrades with the aim of making 2024 a significant season for the establishment.
During spring 2023, the family behind the caravan park commenced with the installation of a “ground-breaking” solar field, which will be used to power the entire park for an eco-friendly and cost-effective alternative to traditional power sources.
The solar field installation cost just over £110k, having secured £80k of the sum via the Business Energy Scotland SME Grant. The work completed at the end of spring and the park is now able to generate 1/3 of its energy supply.
In addition to their solar field innovation project, the park has also invested over £250k in upgrading the toilet and shower facilities.
Katie Guinan, owner and park manager at Linwater Caravan Park, said: “At Linwater, we’re committed to leading the way in sustainable business practices and ensuring guest comfort. We are thrilled to be at the forefront of these ground-breaking projects.
“The solar field installation is just one of the many steps the park is taking to reduce its impact on the environment and provide guests with a holiday experience that is environmentally responsible.”
She added: “We were recently awarded with the Green Tourism gold standard, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to being an Eco conscious park. Despite receiving this award, we are still conscious that there is more to do and will continue in this vein as we develop the park.”
