Wallsend Guest House and Glamping Pods in Cumbria has hit the market with an asking price of £1.2m.
Located in the village of Bowness-On-Solway, Wallsend Guest House sits within the Solway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The guest house is popular with tourists looking to explore the area’s many scenic attractions including UNESCO World Heritage site Hadrian’s Wall.
Originally built in 1921, the guest house is set within landscaped gardens, presenting six ensuite bedrooms, a guest’s sitting room, a dining room, an imposing hallway and a lounge. Additionally, the current owners have recently extended the property to create owners’ accommodation.
Also included within the sale is the glamping site that currently offers five individual, self-contained, glamping pods, each with a log fire hot tub, as well as a sixteen-pitch, seasonal campsite.
The business has been owned and operated by Barry and Michelle Maxey since 2020.
Barry Maxey said: “We spent a lot of time looking for the right business and lifestyle for us, and when we first visited, we knew we had found a great opportunity. We invested in the property to meet the expectations of our guests, developed the new owners’ accommodation and increased our ownership to include the glamping pods and the campsite.”
Michelle Maxey added: “We have enjoyed hosting so many guests and being part of the local community. The business we have created is very successful and we are delighted with what we have achieved. We will pass it over to the new owners with confidence that they will enjoy it as much as we have, but in the knowledge that there are also opportunities to develop the business further.”
Graham Wilkinson, hotel broker at Christie and Co, said: “From the moment I arrived at Wallsend Guest House to meet Barry and Michelle, I was excited to learn more about the business and its success.
“I firmly believe that the guest house, glamping and campsite all combine, with the beautiful owners’ accommodation, to create a wonderful lifestyle opportunity for the next owners. Demand for businesses such as this has increased significantly in recent years, and we are sure that there will be a significant level of interest.”
