Lizzie Grundy AIH has been appointed as vice chair of the Institute of Hospitality Youth Council.
She takes over from outgoing vice chair Marco De Simone MIH who has stepped down from the role after two years.
Grundy joined the Youth Council at the end of 2023 alongside five other young hospitality professionals.
Since then, she has played a key role, joining her fellow committee members at IoH networking events, engaging with members, writing articles, and helping raise money for the IoH Bursary Fund.
Meanwhile, De Simone MIH has been on the committee since the launch of the Youth Council in 2021, stepping into the role of vice chair in 2022.
In that time, Simone has demonstrated “exceptional dedication and passion” for the institute and the industry.
He will remain a member of the institute and will continue his involvement with the IoH.
Grundy said: “I am delighted to be stepping into the role of vice chair of the IoH Youth Council, having thoroughly enjoyed the 14 months as committee member. I am looking forward to supporting our chair in leading the Youth Council through another aspirational year as we grow and develop our outreach and achievements. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Marco for his legacy and inspirational leadership during his time as vice chair as well as the unwavering support he continues to give.”
De Simone added: “It has been an incredible privilege to be part of the Youth Council. Looking back, it is truly outstanding to see how far we have come. Organising and running our own networking and CPD events and webinars, attending and participating in events such as Passion4Hospitality and Above & Beyond, attending CPD round table discussions, hiring and training new team members, writing articles, and empowering others to step out of their comfort zones and take initiative, as well as fundraising to raise money for the IoH Bursary Fund and charitable organisations such as Hospitality Action. I am so proud to have been a part of this incredible journey.”
