Hyatt has unveiled the hotel opening team for its new property set to open in the heart of Leeds city centre.
Hyatt said the new venture in Leeds is headed up by an “inspiring roster” of hospitality big names that have “made their stamp on the Yorkshire hospitality scene over the past 20 years”.
It has appointed Peter Dodd as general manager of Hyatt Leeds and Azotea Rooftop Restaurant and Bar, bringing with him over 38 years of hospitality experience, with 26 years in hotel management within Leeds, including working within international establishments such as Hilton and IHG, as well as being multi-site UK hotel Operations Director for a leisure brand.
A dedicated hotelier, Hyatt said Dodd is “committed to maintaining high standards, fostering team development, and consistently delivering exceptional customer service”.
Alex Coleman will join him as hotel manager at Hyatt Place and Hyatt House in Leeds, with over 19 years of extensive experience in the hospitality industry across Yorkshire. He has worked at a variety of prestigious hotels and venues in Leeds and York, holding key roles at Clayton Hotel, Hotel Indigo, DoubleTree by Hilton, as well as Malmaison.
In his position, he oversees the overall management and performance of both Hyatt Place and Hyatt House, with a focus on all aspects of hotel operations, including guest satisfaction, team leadership, and financial performance.
Meanwhile, Rebecca Gallagher has been named as sales manager at Hyatt Place and Hyatt House, bringing over 10 years of experience in the hospitality industry, having worked with renowned hotel brands such as Hilton and Marriott.
As sales manager Hyatt said she is “dedicated to building meaningful relationships and managing key accounts, ensuring her clients receive exceptional, reliable service and experiences”.
Finally, Jill Nichols has been appointed as director of sales and marketing for Hyatt Place and Hyatt House and Azotea Rooftop Restaurant and Bar Leeds.
She has 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, and an in-depth knowledge of the Leeds and Yorkshire markets gained through working with renowned hotel brands including Hilton hotels. Since joining the Hyatt Leeds team in March as the first employee, Nichols has had the responsibility of implementing sales, digital, and social media strategies, preparing for the opening, and supporting in the recruitment drive of the outstanding team.
The hotel will be home to both Hyatt Place, offering 217 contemporary rooms, as well as Hyatt House, which will host a number of studios and one-bedroom suites, featuring fully-equipped kitchens, and living and working spaces.
In addition, the hotel will have two new restaurants – a Latin American rooftop bar and restaurant, Azotea, as well as Zoom, which will serve an all-day menu inspired by a fusion of global and local cuisine.
