Brend Collection has recognised area director Matthew Raistrick for 40 years of service, marking a career that began with a six-month work placement in 1984.

Raistrick joined the company while completing a hospitality degree at Blackpool College, where his placement at the Victoria Hotel led to a full-time offer. He became junior assistant manager at Saunton Sands Hotel in 1985.

After holding several roles across the group, Raistrick returned to Sidmouth in 1987 and was later promoted to area director in 2010. He now oversees both the Victoria and Belmont Hotels.

John Brend, chairman of Brend Collection, said: “Working with Matthew over the past 40 years has been one of the greatest experiences of my working life. From his early days as a young trainee gaining experience across the company to becoming a respected leader of two of our flagship hotels, Matthew’s work ethic is second to none and I’m grateful for all he’s done.”

Raistrick added: “It’s been a privilege to work for the Brend Collection for 40 years. I’d like to thank all my colleagues, past and present, our team at head office, the Brend family in particular, Mr John Brend, our loyal customers, and finally my wife and sons, for all their support.”
