Dublin-based operator Staycity Group has opened a 227-room Wilde aparthotel in Cambridge city centre, marking the brand’s debut in the historic university town.
Wilde, Cambridge City Centre comprises studio and one-bedroom apartments, including 22 accessible units, each with a kitchenette and space to dine, work or relax. On-site amenities include a gym, laundry, communal lounge, co-working area and landscaped terrace.
The ground floor features an all-day café bar serving drinks and meals prepared with locally sourced ingredients. A retail space offers artisanal produce including regional cheeses, charcuterie, locally brewed beers and ready-to-cook meals.
The interiors, designed by specialist firm Thurstan, include a curated selection of artworks by Cambridge-based artists, with surrealist paintings, landscapes, prints and photography.
The development, led by Marick Real Estate, prioritised sustainability through high-performance materials, air source heat pumps, 56 solar panels and a rainfall harvesting system. Apartments are equipped with Water2 filtration, while biodiversity is supported by planting schemes, bat and bird boxes, and a bee hotel.
General manager Martin Newbould said: “I am thrilled to be involved with bringing the Wilde brand to the beautiful, historic city of Cambridge and creating a space that showcases the city and forms a meeting place for the local community.
“As the Wilde brand starts its journey in Cambridge we are already building strong connections within the city by working with local organisations as well as establishing a talented team of 40 staff who will help create a vibrant, welcoming destination for both locals and visitors.”
