A Bournemouth hotel has been sold out of administration, securing its future and protecting local jobs, following a partnership between restructuring specialist RSM UK and Switch Management.
The 78-bedroom Ibis Styles Hotel Bournemouth, located in the East Cliff area, was previously operated by Coast Hotels and Leisure Limited, which entered administration on 8 January 2025.
Joint Administrators, Glen Carter and Damian Webb of RSM UK Restructuring Advisory, orchestrated the deal, handing ownership of the business and assets to Switch Management, a property management company with expertise in hospitality and housing.
The deal safeguards the employment of approximately 30 staff, who have transferred to the new operator under TUPE regulations.
This will mark Switch Management’s second hotel purchase in Bournemouth, following the acquisition of Queen’s Hotel and Spa Bournemouth, which reopened after a £2m investment programme.
Glen Carter, partner at RSM UK and Joint Administrator, said: “In what continues to be a challenging market for the hospitality sector, we are pleased to have secured a future for the hotel. Not only does this transaction ensure the continued operation of the business, it also saves around 30 local jobs. The ongoing support of the employees throughout the administration process has been exceptional and we wish the whole team the best of luck moving forward.”
John Angus, managing director at Switch Management, said: *We are delighted to have acquired the Ibis Styles Bournemouth and look forward to building on its established reputation. The hotel has a strong foundation and an important role within Bournemouth’s hospitality market. Drawing on our extensive management experience, we will maintain the high standards guests expect, deliver exceptional service and create long-term value for the business, its employees and its guests.”
