The NICI appoints John Willcock as general manager

In this episode we speak to brothers Alex and Adrien Grosjean, young entrepreneurs who have recently acquired The Residence Inn by Marriott Manchester Piccadilly. We discussed the reasons why Manchester’s visitor market is booming, and their decision to invest in this area, why they see extended-stay accommodation as a major opportunity in what is one of the UK's fastest-growing cities, how they plan to enhance their portfolio of hotels, and their advice for the next generation of hospitality disruptors.

The NICI in Bournemouth has appointed John Willcock as its new general manager.

Willcock is a third-generation hotelier with experience across lifestyle, leisure and corporate brands.

His career includes senior roles at Hotel du Vin, Accor, Harbour Hotels and Taplow House, along with five years at Macdonald Hotels, where he served as general manager in Windsor and Marlow

His appointment marks a return both to the Dorset coast and to the Nicolas James Group.

The NICI, launched in 2022, has established itself as the group’s flagship property, and Willcock’s appointment supports its plans to grow the brand as further developments are considered.

Willcock said: “I’m thrilled to be returning to my roots and to be joining The NICI at such an important time. The NICI has already made a significant impact, and I look forward to further strengthening its positioning in the marketplace and cementing its place as the flagship hotel for the group.”

Lukasz Dwornik, managing director of The NICI Group, added: “Willcock’s experience and understanding of the region made him the perfect fit to lead the property through its next phase.”
