Adina to open new aparthotel in Glasgow’s Wellington House

In this episode we speak to brothers Alex and Adrien Grosjean, young entrepreneurs who have recently acquired The Residence Inn by Marriott Manchester Piccadilly. We discussed the reasons why Manchester’s visitor market is booming, and their decision to invest in this area, why they see extended-stay accommodation as a major opportunity in what is one of the UK's fastest-growing cities, how they plan to enhance their portfolio of hotels, and their advice for the next generation of hospitality disruptors.

The Wellington Glasgow by Adina is set to open on 8 December 2025, marking TFE Hotels’ second UK launch within a month and continuing the group’s expansion of its Adina brand.

The Glasgow opening follows the forthcoming debut of The Hobson Cambridge by Adina, a 56-key property due to open at the end of November.

The Australian-based hotel operator said its new sites in Cambridge and Glasgow represent its first entry into the UK market.

The aparthotel brings Adina’s “casual-living” concept to Scotland for the first time.  Wellington House, a listed 19th-Century building on Wellington Street, has been converted into an aparthotel that retains its period features alongside updated accommodation for business and leisure guests.

The hotel comprises 98 apartments, including studio and studio premier rooms, each with open-plan living and sleeping areas, kitchenettes, dining spaces and amenities such as in-room steamers and coffee machines.

The apartments are designed to accommodate both short and extended stays.

Facilities include a gym, laundry services and a meeting room for events and conferences. A lobby shop and café bar provide grab-and-go breakfast options during the day and serve drinks in the evening.

Ray Goertz, regional general manager UK, said: “From its origins as a 19th-Century landmark to its transformation into a contemporary apartment hotel, The Wellington Glasgow by Adina stands as a celebration of the city’s rich architectural and cultural heritage.”

Moritz Klein, head of operations EU and UK, added: “Glasgow’s dynamic culture and creative energy make it the ideal city for our casual-living concept, giving guests the freedom and comfort of apartment-style stays with the service and hospitality associated with the Adina brand.”
