Fairmont Hotels and Resorts has opened reservations for its first property in the North West of England ahead of its official launch on 10 July 2025.
The hotel, named Fairmont Cheshire, The Mere, follows a £35m acquisition and a £90m redevelopment by developer Select Group. The 157-acre lakeside estate will become the brand’s fourth UK property, joining the Savoy in London, Fairmont Windsor Park, and Fairmont St Andrews.
The resort features 116 bedrooms, including 23 suites, an 18-hole championship golf course, and a spa. Its food and beverage offering includes Gordon Ramsay at The Mere, alongside several lounges and bars. The property also includes a 1,000 square metre ballroom with capacity to host 1,000 guests for events and conferences.
Claudia Kozma Kaplan, chief brand officer at Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, said: “Fairmont Cheshire, The Mere offers a countryside sanctuary designed for pause and restoration within beautifully appointed surrounds. Guests can indulge in pure serenity at the calming spa which draws inspiration from the lake, savor celebratory moments in the refined Club Lounge after a round of golf, and experience world-class, British and international cuisine at Gordon Ramsay at The Mere, all within a quintessentially British rural setting.”
Israr Liaqat, group chief executive officer at Select Group, added: “Fairmont Cheshire, The Mere represents a defining milestone for Select Group. It is the realisation of a vision we committed to when we first acquired this exceptional property. Our ambition from the outset was to create something that would set a new standard for luxury hospitality in the North West of England.”
Gary Johnson, general manager at the property, said: “Fairmont Cheshire The Mere is a place defined by its setting – the lake, the fairways and the sense of space that surrounds it, all of which create a natural feeling of ease and connection. We look forward to welcoming guests into this new chapter of the estate.”
