The long leasehold of the Crab Manor Hotel and Crab and Lobster Restaurant in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, has been brought to market for offers over £4m.

The boutique hotel provides 20 individually designed en-suite rooms within the 18th century Georgian manor house. The rooms are inspired by destinations around the world, and many feature private hot tubs, saunas and roll-top baths. Externally, the hotel has extensive landscaped gardens.

The main Crab and Lobster restaurant accommodates 40 covers, complemented by a 70-cover conservatory, 20-cover bar area and 60 outdoor covers. The additional Seafood Room offers private dining for up to 16 guests.

Crab Manor Hotel is located just outside the historic market town of Thirsk, surrounded by North Yorkshire countryside but with excellent transport links including the A1(M).

Tom Cunningham, UK Regional Director, Hotel Capital Markets, Savills Manchester, who is handling the sale, said: “Crab Manor Hotel is a unique boutique hotel in North Yorkshire, taking inspiration from the best hotels around the world. Both the hotel and restaurant are well regarded locally and nationally, making it an excellent proposition.”

Crab Manor’s sale mirrors its past

In Context

The recent announcement of Crab Manor Hotel being offered for over £4m recalls its previous acquisition by Shepherd Cox in March 2020. At that time, Lee Bramzell stated his excitement at adding the hotel to their portfolio, emphasising its distinct theme and character, which help position it within a competitive market. The unique boutique nature highlighted by Bramzell suggests that its value has been recognised well beyond regional interest, making the current asking price reflective of its established reputation.

Furthermore, the regional hotel market has shown resilience, as seen with other properties listed for multi-million-pound prices, like the £3.25m Feversham Arms Hotel earlier this year. This trend underscores the demand for unique hospitality offerings in North Yorkshire, positioning Crab Manor as not just a standalone asset but part of a broader narrative of growth in the boutique hotel sector.
