Tokyu Hotels and Resorts has signed an agreement with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) to advance sustainable practices across its operations.

The memorandum of understanding will see the hotel operator adopt international sustainability standards to develop its environmental roadmap and key performance indicators.

Under the agreement, the company will focus on integrating environmental, social, cultural and economic sustainability across its products, services and supply chain. The partnership will also include joint training seminars, workshops, and case studies for employees and suppliers in Japan and internationally.

Takashi Takei, president of Tokyu Hotels and Resorts, said: “We are pleased to enter into this MOU with GSTC, marking a significant milestone in our sustainability journey. By leveraging the GSTC Standards and expertise, we will further enhance our sustainability initiatives and integrate these principles throughout our organisation.”

Randy Durband, chief executive of the GSTC, added: “We look forward to working together to support knowledge exchange, capacity building, and more sustainable practices across hotel operations and the wider supply chain in Japan.”
