Guy Parsons is set to step down as CEO of easyHotel.
The announcement came from the board of the super budget hotel chain, whose headquarters are situated in London.
Parsons has been CEO of the company since 2015, and his departure comes with immediate effect. During his role, he oversaw the doubling of the group’s estate to 40 hotels with 3,759 rooms.
Scott Christie, who was non-executive interim chairman of the group, will act as interim CEO until an official new appointment is made.
Harm Meijer, currently a non-executive director, has been appointed to the role of non-executive chairman.
Meijer said: “On behalf of the board and all of the company’s stakeholders I would like to thank Guy for his significant contribution and the key role he has played building the brand, the hotel portfolio and guests’ experience.
“Guy leaves the company with our best wishes and I personally wish him every success for the future.”
The board also announced the appointments of Michael Neuman and Charles Persello as non-executive directors of the board with immediate effect.
Meijer added: “I would also like to welcome to the Board both Michael and Charles. I believe their wealth of European property and financial experience will benefit the Company as easyHotel continues its journey to fulfil its potential as a leading European budget hotel company.”
Easyhotel is the owner, developer and operator of a series of budget hotels. Its aim is to “target the super budget segment of the hotel industry” by marketing “clean, comfortable and safe” hotel rooms to customers.
Its estate is comprised of 27 franchised hotels and 12 owned hotels. Its franchised estate include sites in Edinburgh, Heathrow and central London. The group has owned hotels in Old Street, Glasgow, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds, among others.
The group also has sites in Spain, France and Dubai.
