Ibis’ St Mary’s Gate hotel in Sheffield is set to open on 27 July 2020, as the nationwide lockdown gradually lifts.
The 126-room hotel was originally due to launch at the end of March, just as lockdown commenced.
The hotel said the opening date sees the beginning of a “new era” with a new hotel offering from Accor brand Ibis Budget as well as creating 25 new hospitality jobs for the city.
General manager, Dave Amans, said: “We have been planning this launch for a long time. Like Sleeping Beauty, the hotel went into lockdown and was put to rest until now.
“Finally, after much anticipation, we are excited to bring this new concept to Sheffield and share what has been our secret for many months.”
The hotel also features the Ibis Budget nest bedroom concept as well as an artisan café and bar, designed by Whittam Cox Architects.
